The teachers of the Department of the Humanities and Social Sciences (Accounting and Auditing Faculty, Poltava State Agrarian University) keep attending the Lecture Series on Language and Literature given by professor Dr. Michael Burke, Professor of Rhetoric (University College Roosevelt, Utrecht University, Netherlands). The second lecture was on April 19, 2022.
This time Master’s degree philology students joined this fascinating session devoted to the issues of language, style and cognition in children’s literature. Dr. Michael Burke focused on the protagonist’s character traits, rhyming, humour, lexical repetition, intertextuality, etc. as the strong points of children’s literature, which attract young listeners’ attention. It should be noted that being a participant in such an informative event is a great opportunity to boost the special competencies (in particular, in literature studies) of both teachers and students.
